Josh Marcus is the Head of Intellectual Property for Insmed Incorporated, a company focused on the treatment of rare diseases (NAS:INSM).
At Insmed, Josh leads the development and execution of patent exclusivity strategies for the Company’s commercial product, Arikayce®, and its pipeline candidates. Josh oversees IP due diligence efforts in connection with potential acquisitions and Company financings, as well as activities related to monitoring and analyzing competitive patent landscapes. Josh began his career as a patent agent at the law firm Darby & Darby (Darby). While at Darby, Josh attended Fordham University School of Law at night and graduated with his law degree in 2011. Josh later transitioned to Cooley LLP, where he was an associate for 5 years. He has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patent due diligence investigations on behalf of companies and investors, and counseling clients on issues at the intersection of US regulatory and patent law. Prior to entering the field of patent law, Josh earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). At Caltech, Josh performed his dissertation research in the laboratory of Stephen Quake, where he developed novel tools and methods for the analysis of single mammalian cell gene expression. Prior to Caltech, Josh graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Neuroscience.
