Based in Toronto, Marla Allan is the VP, Human Resources & Internal Communication at Grand & Toy, a leading provider of workplace products and solutions, serving Canadian businesses for more than 135 years.
Similar to many challenging industries looking to transform and remain relevant in a changing landscape, Grand & Toy has benefitted from her strategic HR leadership at the executive table, organization restructuring and development, change agility and metrics driven decision making.
Prior to returning to Canada and joining Grand & Toy, Marla spent 18 years in Seattle, Phoenix and Montana working for a number of Fortune 500 companies in senior HR roles. Through a variety of industries and companies including health care, retail, financial services and technology, Marla has focused on organization development, employee engagement and driving a high-performance culture as critical levers to meet company objectives. Her experience in the US and Canada has provided her with insights needed to leverage and align best practices of a parent company with the nuances of local divisions.
Marla holds CHRE and SPHR designations and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. She is an active participant in senior HR advisory councils such as HRPA CHRO and holds a Board of Directors position with Start2Finish, a national nonprofit working to eradicate childhood poverty though a fitness and cognition model.
