EHS Leaders Gather for the 2020 EHS Management Institute

By Jennifer Holmes on February 11, 2020

One of our Delegates onsite put it perfectly: “An EHS Leader’s job is unlike any other corporate role; when a VP of EHS is informed of an emergency, it is not an operational disaster such as losing a significant manager or having a binding business contract broken. Likely, there is an actual life at stake”.

This statement captures just why this Institute is so important – it provides an almost therapeutic outlet for VPs of EHS to come together in an intimate setting to benchmark performance, share stories, and most importantly, learn from one another about how to best strategize for not only assessing and handling emergencies, but how to prevent them.

The Château Élan Winery & Resort in Braselton, Georgia hosted VPs of EHS and Chief Safety Officers from organizations across North America for two and-a-half days of information exchange, reiterating the value of a flexible safety framework, and learning about leading solutions in their specialized field. These solutions included areas such as how to help make data-driven decisions easier, how to manage regulatory ongoing compliance on a global scale, and how to navigate digital EHS to deliver value from the front-line to the C-suite.  In addition, through interactive Think Tanks, intimate roundtable discussions, Keynote Presentations and Case Studies, EHS&S leaders were able to absorb strategies for engaging and leading safe and sustainable practices for ongoing success.

On the 50th anniversary of the OSHA, panelists Paul Moss, VP, Global EHS, Travel & Security for Siemens Healthineers, Marty Stern, Director, Health & Safety for Colgate-Palmolive Company, Jana Gessner, VP, EHS for PepsiCo and Lisa Funderburg, Chief EHS Counsel and VP of Regulatory Audit for Olin Corporation marked this milestone anniversary by exploring the past, present and future expectations of occupational safety and health protection in America.

If you would like the opportunity to engage with forward-thinking EHS&S Leaders, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Jennifer Holmes at jholmes@ipmionline.com to collaborate on sharing insights and experiences as a member of the Speaker Faculty, or to suggest a topic area for the agenda. You can also join the waitlist for next year’s Institute, taking place January 24th – 26th, 2021 at the JW Marriott in Savannah, GA.

We would like to thank our Advisory Committee, Speaker Faculty, Sponsors and Delegation once more, and look forward to yet another successful meeting next year.
