With Every Challenge Comes Opportunity for Growth and Canadian HR Leaders are Seizing Those Opportunities!

Focus on the Employee, Focus on the Business, and Focus on the Future. These three areas of concentration formed the foundation of and embodied many of the discussions over the course of the three day Virtual HR Management Institute Canada Program that took place this past week. Each day’s sessions inviting attending HR Leaders to first focus on the employee – how can you better support the ever evolving needs of your workforce? Secondly, to focus on the business – how do you need to continue adapting in 2021 and how are you effectively supporting that change? And finally, to focus on the future – how is the workplace and the nature of work changing, and how do you not only survive but thrive?
The goal of the 2021 Virtual HR Management Institute Canada was to provide a safe space for Canadian HR executives to network and become a sounding board for ideas and information exchange on strategies to navigate the future of work during these ever evolving times. By participating in a variety of virtual thought leadership sessions, panels, breakout think tanks and interactive roundtable discussions, this goal was met and surpassed according to attending HR leaders that stated, “WELL DONE! Thank you for including me in the event. I have many valuable takeaways and some inspiration and motivation during these “yucky” times.”
Also, “A great mix of sessions and attendees, appreciate all of the discussions and insights shared.”
As well as, “This was a phenomenal event and you all put so much work to make everything run smoothly. Amazing job!”
CHROs and VPs of HR from organizations such as Walmart Canada, The Home Depot Canada, LCBO, Manulife, Bayer Inc., Hyundai Canada, TELUS, DHL Supply, ATB Financial, Alcoa Corporation and many others, shared insights, experiences and perspectives as the group explored some of the following themes:
- Tackling Change – The CHRO Agenda Shift and Resetting People Strategies for Organizational Success in 2021
- Optimizing Employee Mental Health and Wellbeing – The Next Frontier of Workplace Inclusivity
- Responding to Shifting Social Dynamics in Canada – Creating a Culture of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging
- Acquiring, Activating and Retaining Top Talent – Accelerating Future Performance
- Navigating The Future of Work – Maintaining Culture and Engagement in Remote and Hybrid Workforces
Beyond the incredible sessions, networking opportunities and business meetings, we were also able to experience a very fun and interactive evening social hour. The Operations Team at IPMI hosted a fun and engaging Movie Pub Trivia Night asking a multitude of skill testing questions with the Star Wars Team coming out victorious.
A big thank you goes out to the Advisory Committee, Speakers, Service Providers and Attendees who made this event possible and a true success! Based on feedback we received, everyone was able to sign off from the event feeling more confident and better prepared to tackle the challenges that undoubtedly lie ahead.
