“Reunited, and it feels so good” as Peaches and Herb, iconic disco pop duo  would sing. We were so happy to be back in person for the July 2021 HR Management Institute Program that took place July 25th – 27th, 2021 at the beautiful Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai, California.

The three-day event was jam packed with inspiring keynotes, dynamic panel discussions, interactive think tank and roundtable sessions, as well as an abundance of wonderful opportunities to network and connect with peers on the experiences of the past year and consider strategies to prepare for what lies ahead.

A focus on new models of leadership, the employee experience, and the future of work, formed the foundation of and embodied many of the discussions over the course of the Institute. Each day’s sessions invited attending HR Leaders to focus in on one of these three overarching themes:

Day 1: Leadership – How can you better support the ever-transforming needs of your organization and workforce? Attendees examined the current state of the economy and changing workforce, citing strategies to help lead through these turbulent times. They also discussed a new model of leadership centered on leading with empathy, communication & clarity, agility, and a growth mindset.

Day 2: Employee Experience – How do you need to continue adapting in 2021 to prioritize employee health and well-being, inclusion, and engagement?  As we explored HR leaders’ greatest priorities for 2021, it was clear that employee experience was at the center point of most of these priorities. Discussions on prioritizing employee health & well-being, reimagining the employee service experience for the hybrid workforce, shaping an associate centric experience to boost engagement, and exploring proactive racial equity and diversity & inclusion initiatives, all served to highlight the importance of the employee experience for all organizations.

Day 3: Future of Work – How is the workplace and the nature of work changing, and how are you actively responding in shaping a reimagined future of work? Presenters and attendees shared their plans for ensuring a future ready workforce for return to the ‘new normal.’ Small group break out discussions shared best practices for acquiring and retaining top talent for the future workforce, ensuring a resilient culture for future growth and success, and strategies for developing future leaders.

The goal of the July 2021 HR Management Institute was to provide a safe in person experience for HR executives to network and to share ideas on strategies to lead through evolving challenges to shape a reimagined future of work. According to the feedback from attending HR Leaders, this goal was met and surpassed with comments of praise such as:

“What an amazing few days at the IPMI HR conference in Ojai, CA! Very informational sessions on DE&I, remote work, employee experience, leadership and more. I loved engaging with HR leaders from around the world!”

We are immensely grateful for the time, efforts and enthusiasm of the 2021 HR Management Institute Advisory Committee, Speaker Faculty, Service Providers and Attendees. We recognize all the many challenges each of you have faced during these unprecedented times but know that with every challenge comes opportunity for growth. We hope that you continue to search out and seize those many opportunities and we look forward to hosting you again very soon!
