How to Hire and Retain Top Nurses During COVID-19 and Beyond

Thursday, October 15, 2020 • 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (EDT)

U.S. hospitals will face a shortage of more than one million nurses by 2024, which is the biggest employment crisis in the country. COVID-19 has exacerbated the shortage, especially for experienced and specialized nurses. Nurses represent an average annual turnover of 17 percent for hospitals and the median time it takes to hire a permanent specialized nurse is 82 days. Understaffing also puts patients, staff and hospitals at risk, contributing to higher operating costs, increased burnout and a reduced quality of care.

In this interactive Virtual Think Tank, hospital and health system HR Leaders will gather to explore how different organizations rapidly hire and effectively retain their nurse workforce. The discussion will cover practical solutions for ongoing challenges posed by the nursing shortage, COVID-19 and the highly competitive nurse talent market. Iman Abuzeid, MD, CEO of Incredible Health, will guide participants to consider:

  • How to increase recruiter and nursing leader efficiency, and hire permanent experienced and leadership nurses faster, using the latest strategies and technology
  • How to identify and resolve the primary reasons that top nurses leave, including work-life balance, career growth and compensation
  • How to decrease recruiting and travel nurse costs, while also reducing nurse turnover
