Session 2: Leadership & Influence
Wednesday, October 21, 2020 • 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM (EDT)
Crises have a way of revealing and recalibrating what it means to lead. Great leadership is about commitment, not compliance, and in the increasingly complex business environment great leadership is more vital than ever. To be truly effective – in good times and in times of great challenge – leaders must master the ability to influence others. Effective leaders don’t just command; they inspire, persuade, and encourage. Great leaders tap the knowledge and skills of a group, point individuals toward a common goal, and draw out a commitment to achieve results. In this interactive session, Dr. Tom Epperson and Luck Companies Chief Talent Officer, Mark Barth will discuss the power of leadership vision, and how your personal values, style, and leadership choices can build commitment and have a positive impact amongst your associates and stakeholders.
Mark currently serves as the Chief Talent Officer for Luck Companies based in Richmond, Virginia. Previously, Mark was the President of Har-Tru Sports and Luck Stone Center prior to their divestiture in 2016. Mark has served in various human resource and operational business roles throughout his 20 years with Luck Companies. Mark joined Luck from a sales role with Hill Phoenix in Colonial Heights, his first civilian position after serving in the US Army for 8 years after college. During his military tenure, Mark held leadership and staff positions as a medical service corps officer with the 8th Infantry Division located in West Germany and the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) located in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
