Maria Fraga

 With over 30 years of experience at Manulife and John Hancock, Maria has responsibility for setting the strategy and overseeing development, implementation, and management of company-wide total wellbeing initiatives. Together with her team, Maria delivers an array of innovative programs and solutions each year designed to engage Manulife employees in efforts to improve overall health and wellbeing through lifestyle changes. 

With over 35,000 employees globally at Manulife, there’s no such thing as a cookie cutter approach to benefits. Maria is also responsible for directing plan administration, participant communication and service delivery for the company’s benefit plans. As a subject matter expert, she also provides guidance and counsel to employees regarding their benefit coverages relative to established policy. Maria joined John Hancock (now Manulife) as a Senior Accountant. Not long after, she was asked to join the HR organization to bring a level of financial acumen and rigor to the Benefits team. This was more than 20 years ago, and she has seen more than one transformation over this duration while wearing many hats within the global Benefits organization. 

Maria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Curry College in Boston, Massachusetts.
