Marian Flattery is the Vice President, Associate General Counsel & Chief IP Counsel for Corteva Agriscience, the only major agriscience company in the world completely dedicated to agriculture. Marian leads a team of patent and trademark professionals who, in partnership with others, develop and implement robust IP strategies to create value for Corteva and protect its proprietary innovation and brands.
Marian joined DuPont as Patent Team Leader for Pioneer in 2013 and was appointed Assistant Chief IP Counsel for the Ag Division of DuPont in 2014. She was named as Associate General Counsel – IP for the Ag Division of DowDuPont in 2017 and became Associate General Counsel – IP for Corteva in June 2019. Earlier in her career Marian spent almost 17 years with Syngenta and its predecessor companies in IP leadership roles in California, Delaware, United Kingdom and Switzerland. Prior to going in-house, Marian practiced patent law with several Washington D.C. – area IP firms. She was also Of Counsel with the IP firm Finnegan, based in its Brussels, Belgium office, after leaving Syngenta and before joining DuPont.
Marian earned a B.A. in Chemistry and English from Bucknell University and a J.D. from American University. She is a member of the D.C. and Virginia bars, in-house counsel in Iowa and a registered patent attorney at the USPTO.
