Richard J. Ragan is the Vice President of Global Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at American Axle and Manufacturing (AAM), an $8B Tier 1 automotive supplier. Richard has held executive positions with several other global engineering and automotive supplier firms in his 40 years of experience prior to his time at AAM. Under Richard’s leadership, his team is responsible for developing and maintaining AAM’s leading approach to their Safety to the 4th (S4) program for proactive and continuous improvement in EHS leadership, management and compliance. The S4 program is based on the principle “that you get the level of EHS compliance that you demonstrate you want” and is focused on developing a safe culture by associate behavioral modifications in the way we approach the work day. By removing “reactive” styles of management and teaching and guiding associates to interdependent management, AAM has experienced a very successful and robust EHS program.
