Supriya James is a business growth strategist and thought leader, who is sought out to lead change in human capital strategy that drives organizational excellence. As the Senior Vice President of Human Resources with the Canadian Western Bank Group, she leads a team of talented HR professionals in an organization with 2500+ employees, to develop and implement a sustainable human resources strategy, that partners and facilitates CWB to be ‘obsessed with the success’ of their clients, while catapulting organizational engagement and driving business results.
Supriya has lived and worked in four countries and has led the Human Resources function in several industries including banking, retail, property development, hotels and the government. Throughout her career, she has driven organic and acquisitive business growth through the establishment of new business models, setting up operations in new countries and the transition of people and processes through many acquisitions and divestitures.
Supriya is passionate about building high performing teams. In her career, her biggest reward has been the privilege of coaching and developing some incredible, diverse talent. Her education background includes a Bachelor with Honors’ degree in Economics, a Masters in Human Resources Management and Certification in Executive Coaching.
Supriya is passionate about giving back to the community of Edmonton and Chaired the board of the YWCA Edmonton and sits on the Program Advisory Committee for Norquest College. Supriya enjoys working to advocate for empowering and supporting women in their lives and their careers. She is especially passionate about supporting immigrant women in their journey into the community.
