Sales Message Design In A Virtual World
Wednesday, July 29, 2020 • 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM (EDT)
Effective sales communication has always been hard… but as the world has moved into the virtual environment, it just got significantly harder. And for salespeople, there’s a particular trap.
It’s all too easy to assume that, because we have mastery of the platform, we will automatically communicate well in that medium. But that’s not true; showing up powerfully is about more than the platform. It’s about understanding the deeper truth that a profoundly social process – selling – just moved into a profoundly ASOCIAL environment. If you show up with a monster slide deck and talk to your partners about cool solutions, rather than business problems… that never really worked in a live setting; do it in a medium built for distraction and disengagement, and it’s really not going to go well…
In this session, Tim Pollard, CEO of Oratium, will talk about what is required to over-perform as a communicator in this challenging new environment focusing on principles of advanced sales message design.
Tim Pollard is the founder and CEO of Oratium and the author of The Compelling Communicator: Mastering the Art and Science of Exceptional Presentation Design. Throughout a long career in Sales and Marketing for companies such as Unilever, Barclays Bank and the Corporate Executive Board, Tim has almost obsessively sought to understand and capture the underlying “science” of extraordinary communication.
The result of this journey has been the development of a unique set of tools and concepts, and a remarkable ability to coach others in the learnable processes of exceptional communications. As a leading thinker in his field, Tim is a regular columnist for Forbes and Entrepreneur, and a highly sought-after speaker in the area of advanced communication skills, with particular emphasis on executive communications, sales messaging and donor messaging.
