There’s no denying that 2020 and 2021 were years of tumultuous change. The COVID-19 pandemic threw employers a curve ball, prompting businesses to rethink their strategies, their processes, and their priorities. Through it all, HR was front and centre – leading companies through some of the most trying times imaginable. HR has gone from being ‘nice to have’ to being recognized as an integral strategic partner.
Last weekend, Canadian HR executives gathered in Ottawa, ON at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier for the first in-person HR Management Institute Canada since 2019! We had an incredible program lined up for our Canadian HR executives, all while discovering and uncovering the event theme: People, Places, and Processes: Reshaping Organizations Now and for the Future.
The HR Management Institute Canada brought thought leaders and industry experts together to push the boundaries of HR transformation and tackle priority issues now and for the future of HR. From our valued Speaker Faculty to our Sponsors and Delegation, the HR function deserves a big round of applause for helping make an unprecedented year not only manageable but innovative and promising.
From November 7th – 9th, 2021, attendees were able to collaborate, network, and learn from each other by participating in a variety of keynote sessions, panel discussions and breakout think tanks/roundtables. A few topics and themes were discussed, including:
- HR Advice: Stories and Lessons Learned from the Past Year of Uncertainty
- Culture Shift: Sustaining Company Culture in a Hybrid Work Model
- 2021/2022 Global Economic Outlook: The Road to Recovery
- Prioritizing Mental Health, Well-Being, and Wellness
- Journey to Actualizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Your Organization
- The Great Enabler: Harnessing Technology to Enable a New Operating Model for Our Hybrid Model
- Building a Resilient, Agile and Future Ready Workforce
Spearheading these sessions were CHROs, VPs of HR, Talent, and D&I from various organizations such as, Great West Lifeco, LCBO, Alcoa, Microsoft, BMO, Extendicare, Export Development of Canada (EDC), Weston Group of Companies, EY Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, Gore Mutual Insurance, Rogers Communications, Terrapure Environmental, and Glentel.
